Taylor Swift Gives Family of Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade Shooting Victim $100,000
The family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, the woman who was killed during the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade Shooting, received massive help from Taylor Swift, the team's most high-profile fan and girlfriend of Super Bowl-winning tight end Travis Kelce.
Variety reported that the Grammy winner found a GoFundMe page set up for the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan and made several donations to it, totaling $100,000 early Friday morning. The page, which was set up on Thursday, only had a goal of raising $75,000 for the family when Swift exceeded that with her own donations.
Before the singer donated to Lopez-Galvan's GoFundMe page, approximately 1,300 people had already donated. The first donation was around $50,000 before she made several more donations of that same amount just eight minutes later. She then dropped a message to her family.
"Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love, Taylor Swift," wrote the singer to the bereaved family. She reportedly made the donation while she was in Melbourne, Australia as part of her Eras Tour.
A representative for Taylor Swift confirmed the donation and told Variety that the message and the two $50,000 donations were legitimate.
Lopez-Galvan died on Wednesday as she was celebrating her favorite NFL team's Super Bowl victory. She was a mother of two and worked as a wedding DJ. She also co-hosted a local Latin music program, "Taste of Tejano," on a community radio station, KKFI.
As for Taylor Swift, she is famous for her generosity. When a fan died during the Brazil leg of her Eras Tour, she became distraught but soon gave the family of the girl who died the VIP treatment during her last performance in the South American country.
