Before it was revealed to the public that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were dating, the pop superstar actually watched Kansas City Chiefs games in secret. This is according to Kansas City Chiefs defensive backs coach Dave Merritt during a recent podcast.

Merritt, a former NFL star, appeared in an episode of "The Sports Shop with Reese and K-Mac" podcast. He spoke about his team's most famous fan. He told the hosts that Taylor Swift started showing her support for Travis Kelce even before publicly attending her first game in Kansas City in September of last year.

"When Taylor started to come around, it was privately," the Chiefs coach said in the podcast. "She was coming into the stadiums without people knowing until the camera put a big spotlight on it." He added that "all players were supportive of the couple's relationship from the get-go."

''There were so many people that were hating the fact that she was being shown on the TV that, you know what? You're part of our family because you're with Travis," he added. "So, therefore, you're our little sister... You're part of our family."

According to The Daily Mail, she started dating the Chiefs tight end secretly last summer. However, she only publicly started showing up at Kansas City Chiefs games on September 24, when the team faced the Chicago Bears.

Kansas City Chiefs Coach Says Dating Taylor Swift Made Travis Kelce 'a Better Man'

Merritt further heaped praise on the Grammy winner, admitting that her relationship with Kelce has been good for the all-star tight end and Super Bowl winner.

"She actually affected the team in a positive way. It wasn't a negative way. Everybody was excited and Travis was happy," he said in the podcast. "When my player, a brother, is happy beside me, that helps me and that encourages me, and so Travis came in there a different man. So, she helped us."

Swift's romance with Travis Kelce has attracted plenty of media attention, from Swifties gushing over her latest romance to Donald Trump's MAGA supporters who are so angry with her getting so much media attention that they have started conspiracy theories about their relationship.

Taylor Swift Gave Travis Kelce's Teammates Special Gifts, But Not Head Coach Andy Reid

Meanwhile, Andy Reid, the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, admitted that the pop superstar made a good impression on Travis Kelce's teammates by giving them a special treat: homemade Pop-Tarts. However, Reid himself did not receive any, he admitted.

"Behind the scenes, she likes to cook, so she made the offensive linemen these homemade Pop-Tarts... She didn't give me one, and the offensive linemen definitely didn't give me one!" said the Chiefs head coach at the Scouting Combine and told Pro Football Talk. He added that he has known Taytay since she was little and that he has always thought well of her, noting that he met her parents while he was still working for the Philadelphia Eagles.

"I knew her dad and her mom - good, solid people," he noted. "I met her when she was young. And she's so grounded for who she is."
