Michigan: Woman Missing Since 2017 Found in Motel After Police Hear Her Scream
In a remarkable turn of events, a missing Michigan woman since 2017 was discovered in distress in a motel room after managing to call her stepmother for help.
The Michigan State Police, sharing the development on social media platform X, disclosed that the woman, now in her 30s, reached out to her stepmother on Monday, revealing she was being held against her will at the Evergreen Motel in Inkster, Michigan.
Upon receiving the distress call, detectives swiftly determined the woman's location and, along with troopers, promptly responded to a Michigan motel in Inkster, according to Fox News.

Potential Sex Trafficking Victim
Michigan State Police have acknowledged that the woman is believed to be a victim of sex trafficking, Unilad reports.
The Michigan motel, situated approximately 32 kilometers from Detroit and 135 kilometers from Lansing, serves as a suburban area with a population of around 25,700 residents.
Lt. Mike Shaw from the Michigan State Police described the sounds that led them to the specific room as "crying, kind of screaming" noises.
Upon entering the room, authorities discovered the missing Michigan woman unharmed but in possession of drugs, a cell phone, and firearms.
She is now safely reunited with her family and is undergoing specialized counseling therapies.
Lt. Mike Shaw emphasized the importance of exploring all possibilities in the ongoing investigation, considering potential crimes such as human trafficking or domestic violence.
"We'll kind of look at what's next, right... interview her if a crime did take place such as human trafficking or is it a domestic violence situation or is it different," Shaw said.
"I don't want to use the word kidnapping like somebody grabbed her and took her to that place. It may have started out as a relationship that turns into being held against your will and being trafficked," he added as noted by New York Post.
Identity Confidentiality and Ongoing Investigation
The identity of the woman is being kept confidential due to the nature of the potential crime.
Although a suspect has been identified, no one has been taken into custody at this time.
Lt. Mike Shaw stressed the need to thoroughly explore all possibilities as the investigation progresses.
The woman's willingness to cooperate and provide details of her experience is aiding detectives who specialize in active human trafficking and missing persons cases.
Lt. Mike Shaw expressed the need to interview her to determine the nature of the crime, whether it involves human trafficking, domestic violence, or a different circumstance.
The investigation aims to unravel the events that led to the missing Michigan woman being held against her will, shedding light on a complex and potentially criminal situation.
