California: Deputies Fatally Shot Abducted Teen as She Follows Order to Surrender, New Video Says
Newly released video and audio unveil details of the tragic death of 15-year-old Savannah Graziano, fatally shot by San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies during a confrontation with her father, Anthony Graziano, on a Southern California highway, The Hill reports.
The recordings, released by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, depict the events leading up to the shooting and raise questions about the circumstances surrounding Savannah's death.
As the pursuit of Graziano's pickup truck unfolded along Highway 15, deputies followed the vehicle for approximately 70 miles.
Shots were reported both from the driver's and passenger's sides of the truck, although it remains unclear who was firing.
The pursuit culminated in a standoff on the desert interstate in Hesperia, where Graziano had shot and killed the California teen's mother, Tracy Martinez, the day before.
The newly released footage captures the moment Savannah exits the pickup truck and begins to approach a sheriff's deputy.
Dressed in tactical gear and helmet, she follows the deputy's instructions, momentarily crouching before rising and advancing.
However, as she moves towards the deputy, gunfire erupts from a higher elevation, tragically cutting short her attempt to surrender.
The deputy can be heard screaming for the shooting to stop, indicating that the California father, Anthony Graziano, remained in the vehicle.

Investigations and Unanswered Queries
The video's release prompts inquiries about the events' timeline and the conduct of both the deputies and the father from California.
Despite the revelation that both Savannah Graziano and her father were struck by deputy rounds, autopsy reports for the victims have not been made public, and the deputies involved have not been identified.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department disclosed that multiple firearms, ammunition, and tactical gear were recovered from Graziano's truck, but the California teen herself was unarmed when she was shot.
The investigation into the shooting, now in the hands of the California Department of Justice, aims to determine the circumstances surrounding Savannah's death and whether the deputies' actions were justified, AP News noted.
Key details, such as the number of shots fired at Savannah and the exact events leading up to the shooting, remain unclear due to the limitations of the video footage.
California Teen's Tragic Circumstances
The tragic encounter unfolded against the backdrop of a troubled family situation, according to the Independent.
Savannah Graziano had witnessed her mother's murder by her father the day before the shootout, during which Anthony Graziano opened fire near an elementary school, endangering the lives of students and parents.
The incident prompted an Amber Alert for Savannah, although questions lingered about whether she had voluntarily accompanied her father.
California father and her daughter had been living out of his pickup truck and hotels in the weeks leading up to the violence, following his separation from Tracy Martinez amid a divorce.
Despite no prior reports of domestic violence or child abuse, the events of that fateful day culminated in a deadly confrontation on a California highway, leaving Savannah Graziano dead at just 15 years old.
