Churches benefit communities throughout the world every day. According to 35-year ministry veteran Dino Rizzo, those in ministry are working hard to make the world a better place, and that help stretches far beyond America's borders.

Dino Rizzo is fortunate enough to know of and be directly involved with some of these churches that serve worldwide. Below are a few examples.

Serve Day in South America

Many churches throughout the world set aside one day each year dedicated to serving others in the community. It's called Serve Day, and this year, Caminodevida in Peru brought acts of generosity to 20 different locations, reaching more than 15,000 people throughout the country.

It was an incredible day filled with spreading the love of Jesus in Peru, says Dino Rizzo.

The church held activities in Surco (Villa Libertad) and Lince (Parque Castilla and surrounding areas). Members delivered bags that contained fruits, sweets, and more for approximately 400 children. In addition, the church's members painted the children's faces and played with them. All in all, more than 136 volunteers participated.

In addition, more than 100 volunteers went to bless the Casa del Adulto Mayor in Casica. While there, members cleaned and painted the façade, provided spa treatments and fixed benches, conducted literary talks, and delivered packs of supplies to 50 elderly people.

On top of that, Caminodevida distributed 20 wheelchairs in San Juan de Luigancho and visited the FAP Hospital and the National Children's Health Institute.

Life Community Church in New Zealand

Impressive acts of service were also carried out on the other side of the world at Life Community Church in New Zealand, which Dino Rizzo recently visited.

The church hosted its first "Help and Hope Week" of 2024. Over seven days, 255 volunteers completed 33 total projects. This included 11 garden makeovers, five bingo sessions, 550 meals prepared, and so much more.

According to Dino Rizzo, each of these projects provided a great opportunity to bring practical help and hope to thousands of people through a range of community projects across Auckland. This included the Single Parents' Garden makeover, outdoor work at Life Homes, bingo with seniors, and work at Life Community Kitchens.

Annual Serve Day

Every year, churches across the world set aside one day just for serving, called Serve Day. Dino Rizzo says that by joining the Serve Day organization online, churches are given opportunities to serve their local communities and share the love of God through practical acts of kindness.

Ultimately, the hope is that serving becomes something that churches focus on every day of the year, rather than on just one day. As Dino Rizzo often says, simple acts of selfless love can open hearts to Jesus, allowing us all to make a difference together.
