Donald Trump recently made an appearance at the Libertarian National Convention on Saturday, and it did not go as he planned. The former president is known to avoid hostile crowds and only surround himself with supporters and sycophants. This did not happen during the event as the Libertarian crowd heckled and booed him, with many jeering and calling him a "wannabe dictator."

Donald Trump is trying to court the Libertarian crowd, which is actually not a big fan of his COVID-19 vaccine, blaming him for its creation when he was president and not doing much e to stop public health restrictions on the unvaccinated after it was rolled out.

The boos and jeers started as soon as Trump took the stage, though there was a smaller section of MAGA loyalists who still cheered him on and even clashed with those booing their dear leader, per Reuters.

Trump tried to push back, pointing out that Libertarians often do dismally in the election, only garnering 1.2% of the national vote in 2020 or about 1.8 million votes. Despite this, Trump still needed their votes to beat President Joe Biden in a very tight race, but he still tried to antagonize them as they booed.

"Only if you want to win. Only if you want to win. Maybe you don't want to win. Maybe you don't want to win. Only do that if you want to win. If you want to lose, don't do that," Trump said, antagonizing the crowd that he wants to vote for him. "Keep getting your 3% every four years."

He still tried to appeal to the Libertarian crowd, though, saying, "The Libertarian Party can make a big difference. If we unite we will be unstoppable," before pledging to add a Libertarian to his cabinet. This was met with chants of "bulls*t!" from the hostile crowd.

Libertarians Also Being Wooed by Donald Trump Rival, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Donald Trump proclaimed that he is now a Libertarian, but he may not become their nominee as Libertarian Party Chair Angela McArdle ruled that same day that the former president p was not qualified to be the party's nominee because he did not submit nominating papers. Still, Trump made excuses and stated he would have gotten their nomination if he filed it, despite the massive boos and jeers.

According to The Guardian, Robert Kennedy Jr gave his own Libertarian convention speech at the convention before Trump. He told the party in a statement which reads, "While we may not agree on every downstream issue, our core values of peace, free speech, and civil liberties make us natural allies."

Potential Donald Trump Vice President Tim Scott Defends Ex-POTUS After He Got Booed

Soon after the raucous boos Donald Trump received, his sycophants immediately came to the rescue, including one of his potential vice presidents, Tim Scott, who dismissed the negative reactions to the man he is courting for the position.

"Well, I saw a wave of red hats at the Libertarian convention. Donald Trump's popularity continues to increase, but then he's not just going to the Libertarian convention," he said. "He's also doing rallies in [the] Bronx. He's doing something, what I consider a 50-state strategy."

"So I give him a lot of credit and going to places where Republicans have not gone before. If we're going to win this election cycle, we must go where we're not invited," added the Florida Republican. "And to see the former president take that seriously is, in my opinion, a strong sign and one of the reasons why ... we are seeing the poll numbers moving in his direction."
