Grayson Murray, a two-time PGA Tour winner, was found dead in his Palm Beach Gardens home on Saturday around 11 AM, according to the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department.

The 30-year-old had returned to Florida after withdrawing from the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, the day before.

Murray's parents confirmed his death was a suicide in a statement released Sunday.

The police report indicated no signs of foul play, Sports Illustrated reports.

However, the Daily Mail reported that the suspected Grayson Murray cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning after filling his Florida townhouse with toxic exhaust gases.

Murray, who had won twice on the PGA Tour, including the Sony Open in Hawaii earlier this year, had openly discussed his struggles with alcohol addiction and mental health issues.

Despite these challenges, he recently found success in the course.

A Promising Career

Grayson Murray's career saw a revival in 2023 with two wins on the Korn Ferry Tour, earning him a PGA Tour card for 2024.

He began the year with a victory at the Sony Open in Honolulu, where he sank a 40-foot putt to defeat Keegan Bradley and Ben An.

This win secured him spots in his first master's and other major tournaments.

Just before his death, Murray had made the cut at the PGA Championship and was preparing for the US Open.

His sudden passing shocked the golf community, according to Yahoo! Sports.

The PGA Tour shared a statement from his family, expressing gratitude for the support they received. "Life wasn't always easy for Grayson, and although he took his own life, we know he rests peacefully now," said his parents, Eric and Terry Murray.

Murray, a member of the Dye Preserve Golf Club in Jupiter, was known for his openness about his struggles.

Kurt Thompson, the club's General Manager, spoke of Murray's efforts to improve his life. "Grayson was very forthcoming about his past challenges and his desire to turn a new leaf.

He seemed so happy and excited with the path he was on," Thompson said.

Personal Struggles and Public Battles

Grayson Murray's career was marked by public struggles with alcohol and mental health.

In 2021, he criticized the PGA Tour for insufficient support during his battles with alcoholism.

Despite these challenges, he aimed to help others facing similar issues, using his platform to share his experiences, AP News noted.

Murray's recent achievements suggested he was on a path to recovery.

He began playing golf at age 8, winning his age division three years in a row at the Junior World Championship in San Diego.

After bouncing between colleges, Murray turned professional and won as a 22-year-old rookie at the Barbasol Championship in Kentucky.

PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan highlighted Murray's resilience and determination. "One of the elements of his legacy is his resiliency," Monahan said.

Murray's recent success on the Korn Ferry Tour included three victories last year. His Sony Open win marked a significant turnaround.

He spoke about the challenges he and his family faced, emphasizing society's growing acceptance that "it's OK to not be OK."

Murray's Sony Open victory was seen as a new beginning.

He had embraced Christianity, become engaged to Christiana Ritchie, and was planning a wedding. "My story is not finished. I think it's just beginning," Murray said in January.
