Music superstar and former Nsync boyband member Justin Timberlake has been arrested and subsequently released in New York state for driving while intoxicated (DWI) in the Hamptons while also breaking several traffic violations around the area.

His arresting document says that the "Cry Me a River" singer was spotted by Sag Harbor Police when he "blew past a stop sign a little more than half a mile away from the American Hotel." Timberlake reportedly left the hotel during a get-together with friends.

When the Sag Harbor police officers spotted the former Nsync member's vehicle committing a traffic violation, they followed him and noticed that the singer could not stay in a straight line on the road. They then continued tailing him for another half mile before they turned on their police cruiser's lights and eventually pulled him over at an intersection in a residential area, according to TMZ.

Justin Timberlake was soon arrested and eventually released the next day. TMZ released photos of the singer leaving the police station there in Sag Harbor, describing him as looking "relaxed considering everything he went through."

Another photo showed the former Nsync boyband member leaving the courthouse with his attorney. He was reportedly arraigned and released without bail and charged with one count of DWI and cited for running a stop sign and failure to keep in his lane.

Timberlake is set to appear in the New York court again on July 26. He will be represented by criminal defense lawyer Ed Burke, Jr. His mugshot has been released, as seen in the image above.

Justin Timberlake Told Police Officers He Only Had 1 Martini But Was Visibly Drunk

Police officers who arrested Justin Timberlake noted that his eyes were "bloodshot and glassy" and a "strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath," adding that "His speech was slowed and he performed poorly on the officers' sobriety tests."

Despite this, the "Sexyback" singer claimed that he only drank once, telling the arresting officers, "I had one martini and I followed my friends home," before refusing a breathalyzer test, according to police records.

Timberlake also rejected a chemical test three times, telling an officer, "No, I'm not doing a chemical test," before the policemen arrested the singer and held him overnight. Bodycam footage backs up police claims regarding Timberlake's arrest.

Justin Timberlake Was On Tour When He Was Arrested

As for Timberlake himself, the popular singer and Britney Spears's ex is currently on tour to promote his most recent album, "Everything I Thought It Was." He is supposed to perform at the United Center in Chicago as part of the tour on Friday, according to CNN.

Timberlake has had some drinking problems in the past and has openly spoken about seeking help for excessive drinking. He is also in hot water over recent revelations made by ex-girlfriend, Britney Spears.

His lawyer stated that he "will vigorously defend his client and is currently engaged in the Discovery process w the District Attorney's Office."
