The Supreme Court may have ruled that presidents are immune from prosecution for official acts, but legal experts are saying that this would not reverse the former President Donald Trump's porn star hush money conviction, as most of the crimes happened before Trump was even president.

Soon after the conservative majority Supreme Court ruled that presidents are immune from prosecution for official acts, Trump's attorneys urged New York State Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan to set aside the guilty verdict found by the jury against the former president, citing the landmark ruling as the reason.

This led Merchan to delay Trump's sentencing to September 18, months after the original July 11 date he previously scheduled. Despite this, legal experts say that the conviction would not be overturned as using campaign funds to cover up that he paid hush money to a porn star was outside of the duties of the POTUS.

"Falsifying business records to pay off a porn star would not fall even within the outer stratosphere, let alone the outer perimeter of official presidential duties," said Fordham University law professor Cheryl Bader, and other legal experts agree.

New York Law School professor Steven Cohen told Reuters that Trump's actions "cannot fairly be described as among the president's official duties," adding that "To the extent, there were activities while he was president, they seem to be almost the definition of unofficial conduct."

"The likelihood that a New York court will reverse that conviction I think is remote approaching nonexistent," he stated.

Donald Trump May Lose Liquor License for 2 of His Golf Courses Following Hush Money Conviction

While Trump is trying to delay his criminal trials and sentencing, he may get a massive blow to his businesses as the liquor license for some of his establishments may be revoked due to him being a convicted felon.

According to KVUE, the licenses for the Trump Organization's golf courses in Colts Neck and Bedminster expired last week and the New Jersey state Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control announced that these licenses would not be renewed.

There will be a hearing to find out if the liquor licenses for the two Trump golf courses would be reinstated. For now, though, that would be delayed as it would still need the sentencing to happen. A temporary 90-day permit currently allows the two golf courses to serve alcohol.

Donald Trump Made Over 30 False Claims During the CNN Debate

While many zeroed in on Joe Biden's mishaps during the presidential debate on CNN, many also felt that not enough attention was given to Donald Trump's many lies, with CNN itself finding that the former president and convicted felon lying over 30 times.

CNN noted that Trump lied about "Democratic-led states allow babies to be executed after birth, that every legal scholar and everybody in general wanted Roe v. Wade overturned, that there were no terror attacks during his presidency, that Iran didn't fund terror groups during his presidency, that the US has provided more aid to Ukraine than Europe has, that Biden for years referred to Black people as "super predators," that Biden is planning to quadruple people's taxes, that then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi turned down 10,000 National Guard troops for the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, that Americans don't pay the cost of his tariffs on China and other countries, that Europe accepts no American cars, that he is the president who got the Veterans Choice program through Congress, and that fraud marred the results of the 2020 election."
