Disgraced former Hollywood executive and convicted sexual predator Harvey Weinstein may be facing more rape allegations, though no new charges have been made yet. This was revealed when he appeared in Manhattan criminal court on Tuesday, with prosecutors stating that he may have been responsible for raping more women than previously expected.

According to ABC News, prosecutors have told Judge Curtis Farber that they are still evaluating even more allegations from women who came forward after his New York conviction was overturned last April. Prosecutors also stated that they plan to present the allegations of at least one alleged victim to a grand jury.

"We believe the defendant forcibly raped and sexually abused women in Manhattan that fall within the statute of limitations," stated Assistant District Attorney Nicole Blumberg. "There were women in 2020 who were not ready to proceed with the legal process. They are now ready."

However, there is still no timeline for a decision on the new charges against Weinstein, with the former Hollywood executive's lawyers expressing skepticism regarding these new accusers who came forward, with defense attorney Arthur Aidala accusing the prosecution of using delay tactics.

"They have a defendant, and now they're out there looking for a crime," said the defense attorney, "They're out there with a hotline: 1-800-Get-Harvey."

However, Manhattan prosecutors disputed this claim, saying, "There's certainly no delay tactic in the people's case. There were a number of women who came forward to indicate they were raped by the defendant."

Harvey Weinstein Appeared in Court in a Wheelchair, Defense Argues He Is Suffering from Health Problems

As for Weinstein himself, he was seen wearing a suit and tie with his head closely shaved, arriving at the courthouse in a wheelchair pushed by court officers. His attorney, Aidala, argued that he is currently suffering from various ailments.

"He's a sick man," the Weinstein lawyer told the judge. "He's got little kids and he wants to get out."

Weinstein has fluid in his lungs and heart, according to Aidala. He added that there are also issues with his spine and vision, with his diabetes now "going through the roof" while he remains incarcerated.

Harvey Weinstein Also Seeking to Reverse Los Angeles Conviction

While his New York conviction was overturned, with the Court of Appeals ruling that a retrial be done before Labor Day, his Los Angeles conviction still stands. However, Weinstein and his attorneys are trying to get it overturned as well.

According to PEOPLE magazine, his attorneys argued that he did not get a fair trial in the California case because the judge denied him "his constitutional rights to present a defense."

In the Los Angeles case, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison for rape and sexual assault. In the two cases combined, over 80 women, from well-known celebrities to film staff, have come forward to reveal that Weinstein was a serial sexual abuser.
