Terrel Davis, NFL Hall of Famer, Handcuffed and Escorted Off United Airlines Flight
Hall of Fame running back Terrell Davis was detained by authorities following a misunderstanding with a flight attendant aboard a United Airlines flight from Denver to Orange County, California, on Saturday.
Davis, known for his stellar career with the Denver Broncos, recounted the incident on Instagram, alleging unjust treatment, according to ESPN.
Davis' Account of the Incident
NFL Hall of Famer Terrell Davis, 51, was on a United Airlines flight from Denver to Orange County with his family when he asked a flight attendant for ice for his son.
When the attendant didn't respond, Davis lightly tapped his arm to get his attention, prompting the attendant to accuse him of hitting him.
"He shouted 'don't hit me' and left the cart to hurriedly approach the front of the plane. I was confused, as were the passengers in front of me who witnessed the exchange," Davis noted.
Davis, bewildered by the accusation, had no further interaction with the attendant.
Upon landing, he was handcuffed by FBI agents in front of his family, but after explaining the situation, he was released when authorities determined the accusation was unfounded.
Davis also mentioned that despite not receiving any communication from United Airlines, he is determined not to remain silent about "this disgusting display of injustice and deplorable treatment by United Airlines."
"The traumatizing experience of my two sons, my daughter, and my wife watching me being placed in handcuffs, without due process or any explanation, cannot be undone," Davis expressed his feelings of humiliation and anger by the incident.

Response from Authorities and United Airlines
Upon landing, federal agents intervened, handcuffing Davis in front of his family and fellow passengers.
After clarifying the situation, law enforcement acknowledged the flight attendant's error and apologized.
United Airlines expressed regret over the incident, removing the attendant from duty pending an investigation, USA Today reports.
"We aim to provide better travel experiences than this," United Airlines stated.
They have also apologized directly to NFL Hall of Famer Terrell Davis's team.
Parker Stinar, representing Davis, stated that their legal team will contact United Airlines to demand an investigation into the flight attendant's actions.
Stinar emphasized the seriousness of the incident, saying, "Mr. Davis' statement reflects the situation clearly. No one should face such injustice and embarrassment, especially in front of their family."
Terrell Davis was a standout player for the Denver Broncos from 1995 to 2001, spanning seven seasons, Fox News noted.
He achieved NFL MVP honors in 1998 and was named NFL Offensive Player of the Year in both 1996 and 1998.
Davis played a pivotal role in the Broncos' victories in Super Bowls 32 and 33, earning Super Bowl MVP honors in Super Bowl 32.
He remains the leading rusher in Broncos franchise history and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2017.
