Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular: Best Places to Watch the Show for Free in NYC, Live Stream
For the past 50 years, people have flocked to New York City to celebrate Independence Day by watching the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular.
This year, the Brooklyn Bridge will set the stage for the amazing fireworks show, while spectators will gather along the East River to watch over 50,000 pounds of fireworks light up the sky.
The 25-minute show's highlight is an American flag made of fireworks that will fill the sky while the national anthem is performed. The Military Salute and Yankee Doodle Dandy also will accompany the spectacular display.
"We are thrilled to be working with our partners in the city of New York to have the magnificent Brooklyn Bridge as our canvas and stunning backdrop for this year's bigger-than-life display," said Amy Kule, executive producer of Macy's 4th of July Fireworks, according to CBS New York.
Starting at 5 p.m. EST, NBC will live stream the event, which will be hosted by Nick Cannon of "America's Got Talent" and include performances by Enrique Iglesias, Ariana Grande, Miranda Lambert and Lionel Richie. Tune in for the big fireworks at 9 p.m.
For those lucky enough to go watch the magic in person in NYC, there will be elevated viewing platforms on portions of FDR Drive in lower Manhattan by the Brooklyn Bridge.
There are also dozens of great places to catch the show in the city, including rooftops on the East Side, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Broad Street and Old Slip at Water Street (between the Heliport and the south side of the Brooklyn Bridge) and the Brooklyn Heights Promenade. Anywhere in the city with a view of the Brooklyn Bridge should offer great views of the show.
According to the New York Daily News, other free places to watch the show include the South Street Seaport, the Elevated Acre (55 Water St.), Brooklyn Bridge Park (Pier 1 to 6) and the Brooklyn Bridge Promenade.
