La Casa de los Famosos Mexico has a Winner: Mario Bezares
According to Televisa, some 77 million votes were cast to determine the winner
After an intense season that saw advertiser withdrawals for complicated content, a veiled expulsion and more drama, the top prize for the second season of La Casa de los Famosos Mexico, the most popular reality show on Spanish-language television, has been awarded.
The decision is the product of a massive vote. According to Televisa's figures, 77 million votes were cast to determine the winner.
The ten heart-stopping weeks had ended with four finalists, influencer Karime Pindter, actress Gala Montes and TV hosts Arath de la Torre and Mario Bezares, with the latter taking the coveted prize.
While the first season of the reality show was a success, this second season captured the attention of all of Mexico and the population in the United States, who were able to watch it with a VPN. The success was such that they even announced a board game inspired by the show.
On the other hand, the intensity was such that even the producer received death threats from fans of different contestants.
Celebrities, such as actress Ana Brenda Breco and singer María José, logged on to their social networks at night to comment on what was happening in La Casa, while last year's winner Wendy Guevara became even more prominent.
Two movie theater chains, Cinépolis and Cineplex, even offered live viewing of the finale, so that fans could live the collective experience of watching the last two hours of the broadcast together.
Undoubtedly, 'La Casa de los Famosos Mexico' became a national phenomenon. Something similar happened in Puerto Rico with the fourth season of the original U.S. version. Restaurants and even plazas on the island organized evenings to share the elimination rounds and the last episode, which was won by businesswoman and influencer Mary Pili Hernández.
The first two places in the second season of LCDLFmx2With the triumph, the tradition of only women winning was broken. In the first season in Mexico, Guevara won, but in the United States only girls have also won. The first was Alicia Machado, then came Ivonne Montero, the third year it was Madison Berríos and in the one that ended in May 2024 it was Maripily.
In the Colombian edition, which also premiered this year, the winner was influencer Karen Sevillano.
How much did she win in La Casa de los Famosos Mexico?In this season the prize for the winner was 4 million Mexican pesos, the equivalent of 203,197 dollars, at Monday's exchange rate.
