Many people have the day off on our nation's Independence Day, and what better way to celebrate the day than watching sports? Latin Post.com's got an entire day planned out for you with a variety of different sporting events.

So before you watch the fireworks light up the midnight sky, here's your schedule for the day:

Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest

What a great annual event to showcase your eating talents. The best competitive eaters from around the world meet up at Coney Island in the borough of Brooklyn. Joey Chestnut has won the last seven competitions and he is the odds on favorite to win this year yet again. Last year, he ate 69 hot dogs in just 10 minutes. With Takeru Kobayashi refusing to show in the last four events, Chestnut looks to be a lock for the men.

Viewing and introductions begin at 11:30 a.m EST on ESPN.

World Cup 2014: France and Germany Collide

Even if the United States is eliminated, there's still plenty of great World Cup games remaining. France and Germany have a storied rivalry and they will once again meet in soccer's biggest tournament. Both European countries are heavy favorites to bring home the gold this year, but only one will be left standing. Karim Benzema leads France with three goals, while Thomas Müller leads Germany with four. This thrilling game should go into extra time.

France and Germany play each other at 12 p.m. EST on ESPN2.

MLB: New York Yankees vs Minnesota Twins

What better way to celebrate Independence Day than watching America's past time? The Yankees have been struggling to find themselves lately, and are currently 42-42 on the season. Unfortunately for the Pinstripes, they're 3-7 in their last 10 games, which puts them in third place in the American League East. The Twins are current last in the American League Central, but only three games back of third place. This is the second match of a current four game series.

Yankees and Twins are scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m. EST

World Cup: Brazil and Colombia Face off in Quarterfinals

The host nation, Brazil, has been here before but Colombia never has. This is a must-watch for sports fans. James Rodriguez has been sensational for Colombia through four games, scoring five goals. The winner of this game will take on the winner of France and Germany. Two South American super powers, Brazil and Colombia go at it for a chance to advance to the semifinals. Germany is trying to win their fourth World Cup, while France is seeking their second.

Brazil and Colombia kickoff at 4 p.m. EST on ESPN

MLB: Indians and Royals Play in American League Central Battle

By this time, you've already watched two World Cup games and an entire hot dog eating contest. It's time for you to relax and watch another baseball game before the fireworks explode. The Kansas City Royals haven't made the playoffs since 1985, when they won the World Series against the Cardinals. They're currently just four wins behind the Detroit Tigers for the division lead. The Cleveland Indians, on the other hand, have had a lot of bad luck lately, losing 6 of their last 10 games, but they're still in the race.

Indians and Royals begin play at 7 p.m. EST.
