Pierce Brosnan may be know for his portrayal of the iconic James Bond, but the 61-year-old Irish actor, producer and environmentalist is taking his acting talents elsewhere these days.

WebProNews reported that Brosnan is set to join the cast of the next "Expendables" film.

While speaking with ComingSoon.net, Brosnan revealed his discussion with the film's producer, Avi Lerner, about appearing in the next "Expendables" movie.

"I said to producer Avi Lerner, 'If it works out and you have a good script, you know where to find me if you still want me.' It's as simple as that really," he said.

Brosnan also commented on Lerner's ability to create Blockbuster hits.

"Avi is somebody I've heard about and his movies always have big brash entertainment value to them. You can really change the world and that's great, but 'The Expendables'? Yeah, I'd love to do 'The Expendables.' It's just a kick in the pants."

Further allure for Pierce Brosnan to join the "Expendables" cast was the chance to work with Sylvester Stallone.

"I have a grand time in [Sylvester's] company. Sylvester Stallone is the one that's given us these wonderful platforms for actors to go play and have fun and to entertain. To bring a bunch of guys together who saved the world, fought the bad guys, and put them all on the same stage, that's crazy good. It's just a kick in the pants," Brosnan said.

While Brosnan gears up to kick butt in the next "Expendables" film, he is also promoting his newest film, "Long Way Down," out on limited release July 11, WebProNews reported.

"Long Way Down" is an adaptation of Nick Hornby's novel of the same name. It stars Toni Collette and Aaron Paul.

"Nick Hornby always gets it right as a writer," Brosnan spoke to WebProNews about the movie. "He has the vernacular and passion. He is adroit and dry, and balances humor with the humanity of life. I was confident we would tonally hit a high mark."
