American reality TV star Heidi Montag is best known for her participation in 'The Hills.' However she achieved an unexpected milestone in her music career after losing their home in the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.

Montag's album 'Superficial,' released 15 years ago, surprisingly soared to the number one spot on Spotify, even surpassing the superstar musician Bad Bunny.

Her ordeal began when her $3 million home in Pacific Palisades was completely destroyed by the flames. The couple narrowly escaped but lost all their belongings in the process.

Support from fans

Amid the tragedy, Montag's fans launched a massive streaming campaign for her album 'Superficial.' This show of support, which included endorsements from celebrities like the model and actress Emily Ratajkowski, propelled the album to the top of the iTunes and Spotify charts.

The success is particularly astonishing given that 'Superficial' was a commercial flop upon its initial release, selling only 1,000 copies.

Fifteen years later, the album is enjoying its moment in the spotlight, even if it comes as a result of a tragedy. Montag expressed her gratitude on social media: "Thank you for the overwhelming love and support of my music and really rallying behind us in this devastating time and making it such a blessing." "Thank you for helping support us, helping build us back up, helping to encourage us, give us that hope and faith and excitement in such a dark, dark time," she added.

Meanwhile, her husband announced plans to sue the State of California for negligence in its wildfire response. He claimed he frantically called 911 as he watched their home burn via security cameras, but firefighters never arrived.

Despite the tragedy, the couple is trying to stay positive. In several TikToks, Montag has shared her emotional journey, moving between tears of heartbreak and smiles of gratitude for her family's safety.

The impact of the wildfires

The Los Angeles fires have also displaced numerous celebrities, including Billy Crystal, Mandy Moore, Anna Faris, and Ricki Lake. The devastation has sparked fierce criticism of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for the city's lack of preparedness.

President-elect Donald Trump joined the fray, blaming California Governor Gavin Newsom for inadequate disaster prevention measures.

The Palisades fire, which has ravaged homes from Malibu to Santa Monica, is currently only 8% contained. Over 30,000 residents have been evacuated, with the blaze consuming nearly 3,000 acres and reducing dozens of homes to rubble.
