Mexican rock band Maná has made history as the first Spanish-language rock group nominated for the prestigious Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This recognition not only celebrates their musical legacy but also paves the way for greater Latino representation in a space traditionally dominated by English-speaking artists.

While Latino musicians like Santana and Ritchie Valens are already part of the Hall, they primarily recorded in English.

A tribute to the Latino community

Maná dedicated this nomination to all Latinos, particularly immigrants facing daily challenges:

"We're four guys who grew up in Mexico listening to rock and roll — The Beatles, The [Rolling] Stones, Queen, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, Santana. We dreamed of sharing our lyrics and music with the world. We wanted to share the sounds and spirit of Mexico and Latin America.

To be nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is almost impossible to imagine. We're honored and grateful. We want to share this recognition with all Latinos everywhere, especially the immigrants who are suffering right now.

Don't lose faith. Our people always find a way. Maná loves you. We'll always be here standing with you," lead singer of Maná, Fher Olvera said to Billboard.

While the nomination is a major milestone, the band still faces a crucial step: the voting process, where musicians, industry experts, and fans will decide who officially joins legends like The Beatles and Elvis Presley.

Enthusiastic support from the music industry

The nomination has sparked widespread support from influential figures in the music world:

"Maná is one of my favorite bands. They're a global touring powerhouse. They sell out everywhere they go from Los Angeles to Mexico City, Buenos Aires to Bogota, Madrid and even London. What I love most about them is every tour has a social cause. They're always giving back to their community. They have worked tirelessly their entire career, making great records, performing live, and standing up for what they believe in. I can't think of a more deserving artist to get this prestigious nomination," said Bob Roux, President of Live Nation US Concerts.

"As they sing in Spanish, you may have never heard of them but this is a great band you should know and they certainly deserve to be in the Hall of Fame. Great group of guys – I'd be happy to induct them if they get in." said Joe Walsh, guitarist of The Eagles and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee.

Maná's lasting legacy

Founded over three decades ago by Fher Olvera, Álex González, Sergio Vallín, and Juan Calleros, Maná has left an indelible mark on global music.

With over 40 million albums sold, they have conquered the world's most iconic stages, proving that language is no barrier to international success.
