Even though it was just released, Apple iOS 7.1.2 already has a jailbreak ready thanks to Chinese hackers and the Pangu tool.

Pangu was just released as an untethered jailbreak for iOS 7.1.1, and it apparently works for the new 7.1.2 update as well. It was originally designed to work for any device running 7.1.1 on any new device running that version, including the iPhone 5S and the iPad Air.

After testing was done by tech blog Redmond Pie, it was discovered that the Pangu tool will work on 7.1.2 as well. Not many changes were done to iOS 7.1.2, so it's not too surprising that jailbreaking still works with the Pangu tool.

What's going to be the hardest for hackers is the upcoming iOS 8, at least when it is in its final version. Apple has tried to discourage and prevent jailbreakers in the past, and they'll continue doing so for the release of iOS 8.

Thanks to the Pangu team, any iPhone 4 or 5 model is capable of a jailbreak. Additionally, almost all iPads and the iPod Touch 5G can be as well.

Now that you've updated your phone to iOS 7.1.2 and you've done the jailbreak, what are some tweaks you can use?

StatusBarWeather7

An easy way to always know the temperature. This tweak lets you store the temperature along the top of the screen (along with the time and battery life). It saves a lot of time because you'll simply be able to view the temperature by hitting the home button on your iPhone. You won't have to unlock your phone, locate the weather app and boot it up anymore. This is a free tweak available from Cydia.

Unfold

A fun way to unlock your phone. Instead of the standard "slide to unlock," Unfold will change the text and the animation to "fold to unlock." When you slide your finger across the screen, the screen will fold up like a map. It's a cool feature that gives you a little eye candy and variety from the old slide to unlock. Unfold is free and available from BigBoss.

Gridlock

Your screen will look more like a desktop and not a locked in grid of icons thanks to Gridlock. You'll be able to move your icons around anywhere to your liking. Simply drag and drop your icons where you want them. It will look like your computer's desktop. This tweak is only $0.99 and is available from BigBoss.
