One of the biggest names of the NBA free agent countdown is nine-time All-Star power forward Chris Bosh.

Bosh is an extremely versatile power forward who can dominate from all around the court. He can hit three pointers, rebound, and pass very well. The Houston Rockets are reportedly offering Bosh a max contract of more than $80 million.

Bosh can re-sign with the Heat for less money, but should he? With Dwyane Wade's knees in question and LeBron James about to get a huge payday -- meaning that Bosh would have to take less money than before -- maybe it's time to go back to his home state of Texas.

Here's five reasons why Bosh and the Rockets would be a great fit:

1. Defense

Even with Dwight Howard, who most believe is the best center in the league, the Houston Rockets ranked No. 23 in overall defense out of 30 teams last season. Is Chris Bosh the next Wilt Chamberlain? No, but he's still a great defender who is committed to playing defense. Pau Gasol is on the open market for less money, but he's four years older than Bosh. The Rockets need Bosh, because outside of Howard, this team doesn't have much defensive depth.

2. Mid Range Game

The Rockets were a terrible team when it came to mid range shots last season. The Rockets did rank No. 1 overall in three pointers made, but as the old saying goes, "live or die by the three and you will eventually die." The Rockets need to improve their offensive mid range game. James Harden can't do everything, and the addition of Bosh would help immensely. Bosh is one of the best jump-shooting power forwards in recent history.

3. He's the Perfect Complement to Dwight Howard

Dwight Howard is an elite defender. He's led the NBA in rebounding five times, and he's won the Defensive Player of the Year Award three times. But let's be honest, Howard doesn't have a post game like Hakeem Olajuwon or the power of Shaquille O'Neal. His offense is very limited. Bosh, on the other hand, is more offensively gifted, especially outside the paint. Bosh isn't as much of a threat defensively in the paint area, so these two could be the perfect combination.

4. More Money and Options

All signs point to Wade returning to the Miami Heat, and if James decides to do the same, contract options become limited for Bosh with the Heat. The Heat aren't going to offer Bosh a max contract, so why not go to Houston and get paid more? The Western Conference has a much tougher schedule, but nobody said it was going to be easy. Bosh could prove a lot of people wrong by winning without LeBron and Wade.

5. Championship Experience

The Rockets are a good team, but they don't have a championship roster. Chris Bosh is a two-time champion and has played in four Finals. In the 2014 NBA Finals, the Heat only won one game, Game 2. In that game, Bosh made the go-ahead three point shot to give the Heat the lead, and eventually the win. In the 2013 NBA Finals, Bosh made the clutch rebound and assist to Ray Allen to win Game 6 to force Game 7. Bosh has made numerous game-winning shots for the Heat, as well as clutch defensive plays. He could be the leader for the Rockets.
