World Cup 2014: Facebook, Twitter Light up With Hilarious Memes From Brazil-Germany Match-Up
It was one of the most disappointing games in Brazilian World Cup history.
The host nation lost 7-1 to Germany Tuesday in the 2014 FIFA World Cup semifinals. The injury to Neymar and the suspension of Thiago Silva certainly played a factor, but few expected a blowout of this degree. Brazil is now eliminated and Germany has advanced to the final game as they await the winner of Argentina-Netherlands on Wednesday.
After the game, social media took shots at Brazil with some creative memes and Photoshopped images:

This is simple, yet creative and effective. The most famous statue in Brazil, actually all of South America, is showing just how much "we" lost by. The statue isn't a sore loser, though, as it owns up to the massive 7-1 defeat to Germany. Brazil Battles the Hill

A lot people watched this game and didn't see the hill, but it certainly felt as if there was one present. Another simple and creative meme that illustrates the dominating game by Germany. It's hard to play defense when you're going uphill, after all.

Who doesn't love a good SpongeBob meme every now and then? If you're unfamiliar with the show, you may be lost. In that episode (yes, this writer watched it) SpongeBob obtained super speed powers. Here, he's showing how fast he can score against Brazil as a member of Team Germany. Got Defense?

This is more of a painful reality than it is funny for soccer fans. The defense wasn't just bad, it was nowhere to be found. How could the five-time World Cup Champions do this to their fans at home?
