WWE SmackDown Spoilers, Results for July 11, 2014: Roman Reigns Goes Toe-to-Toe With Rusev
Lana and Rusev kick off the set-for-July 11 edition of WWE Friday Night Smackdown, as she continued her new-school Cold War rhetoric of running down American values before Roman Reigns' music hit the arena and he headed towards the ring, through the stands, to confront Rusev. Both big men traded blows before they were separated by officials.
In the opening bout of the night, WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee defeated Cameron of the Funkadactyls in a non-title match after Cameron was distracted by Naomi, giving the champion the chance to nail Cameron with a Shining Wizard for the victory.
Adam Rose, accompanied by Summer Rae as well as his "Rosebuds," battled Fandango and won via count-out after Fandango left the ring to quell the brawl between his dance partner, Layla, and his past previous paramour, Summer Rae. After the match, Rose hit Fandango with the Party Foul.
Heath Slater, looking for new tag team partners since 3MB was broken up, teamed up with Titus O'Neil and lost to the WWE World Tag Team champion The Usos in a quick non-title match.
Chris Jericho came out to the ring to prepare for his match against Randy Orton before he was interrupted by Bray Wyatt on the TitanTron, singing "He's Got The Whole World In His Hands" in an attempt to play mind games with Y2J. Jericho hit "The Apex Predator" with a Lionsault late in the match, only to once again get distracted by Bray Wyatt's image on the TitanTron, buying Orton time to nail Jericho with an RKO for the win.
Layla and Summer Rae ended up finishing their match in a no-contest. Summer Rae started off the bout kissing Fandango -- who was the guest referee for the match -- followed up by Layla giving her dance partner a smooch. Fandango started to dance, as the crowd hummed his theme song, only to get attacked by his ex-partner and Layla. Both divas left the ring together, dancing together and appear to be done with Fandango.
Goldust defeated Ryback in singles competition. After the match, an angry Ryback attempted to hit Goldust with a Shellshock only to have Stardust -- who accompanied his brother and tag team partner to the ring -- blow gold dust into Ryback's face to make the save.
Bo Dallas continues his incredible streak, this time rising to the challenge of beating Diego of Los Matadores and El Torito in a Handicap match. Dallas pinned Diego for the win and then made a "Bo-Liever" out of El Torito post-match after hitting the masked luchador with a Bo-Dog.
In the main event, Roman Reigns came out victorious over Rusev via DQ after Randy Orton interfered in the bout. Reigns nailed Rusev with a Superman Punch and was on the verge of nailing the European powerhouse with a Spear before Orton slithered into the ring to cause the disqualification. Rusev caught Reigns with a Super Kick before Lana ordered Rusev leave the ring. Orton hit Reigns with an RKO and attempted to set him up for a Spear, only for Reigns to recover and crush "The Viper" with his own Spear to clear the ring and end the show.
