The internet has been constantly abuzz with chatter about the latest developments in Apple's iOS 7 operating system ever since the birth of a new generation of iPhones was announced earlier this summer. Let's take a look at the latest developments.

So far Apple has largely been keeping quiet about just when the next edition of iOS, and with it the next iPhone, will be made available to the public. So far general consensus has been that both will be released by Sept. 10, with iOS 7 potentially being made available a few days before that.

There have even been rumblings that the iOS 7 Gold Master version is ready. The Gold Master version would be the final beta before it is officially launched and would contain all of the major (and almost all minor) components of the final version.

The Christian Post is reporting that the Gold Master version could be available to us very soon. They base their claims off the fact that developers have been unable to download the iOS 7 beta 7 update, which was supposed to be delivered last week, leading them to suspect that Apple is holding out so that they can go ahead and deliver the final Gold Master instead.

"After checking to see if iOS 7 beta 7 is live or any other update I got this message while checking OTA. It basically states that an error occurred while checking for a software update, so you are unable to check for an update," says one U.K. developer.

At this point it's all still hearsay, so stay tuned as we wait to see what Apple does next. Though we may not know the exact timeline of releases, there is an Apple iPhone event scheduled for Sept. 10, so if the phone is not released by then we should at least know when we'll get our hands on the much-anticipated new operating system.

"Dubbed as 'the biggest change ever in the history of iOS,' iOS 7 comes with a completely different UI and design -- much easier, faster as well as more enjoyable to users. A major feature for iOS is AirDrop, which allows users to share videos, photos and contacts from any app through a Share button," reports CrossMap.

AirDrop is just one of the exciting features for the new iOS. Apple has also been working on providing updated male and female voices for Siri, as well as a new Control Center that promises to make phone navigation and customization easier than ever before.
