The 25-year old Chilean forward has completed his transfer to Arsenal from the star-studded team of Barcelona, which would seem to have a surplus of strikers especially as the Catalan team is anticipating the arrival of Luis Suarez from Liverpool.
Sanchez had to cut his World Cup break short to fly to London for his medical which was completed on Thursday. He is expected to join his new teammates by the end of this month and is likely to make his first club appearance on the weekend of August 2-3 for the Emirates Cup. Liverpool and Juventus have also shown interest in bringing Sanchez to their club.
Sanchez won the 2012 Copa del Rey and the 2013 Primera Division title with Barcelona and scored a total of 30 goals during his stay with the Spanish team for three seasons. For the national team of Chile, however, the star forward has scored 24 goals in 71 appearances. His effort boosted the country's team to reach the Round of 16 in this year's FIFA World Cup before getting knocked out by the Brazilian hosts.
Wenger called Sanchez a fantastic footballer as he showed the team's delight to have him in the Arsenal Football Club. They expect him to augment the squad with power, creativity, and quality play.
For his part, the Chilean superstar expressed his happiness with the decision to join Arsenal, calling it a club with a great manager and a fantastic squad of players. He also mentioned his excitement to meet his new teammates, the fantastic crowd, and the great stadium in London.
