A new poll reveals that President Obama still has a lot of faithful supporters in the Muslim community.

A new Gallup poll released Friday shows that the president's approval rating is overwhelmingly higher among Muslims than any other religious group in the country.

After surveying more than 88,800 Americans across the nation from January to June, Gallup found that 72 percent of Muslims approve of the president, compared with just 20 percent who say they disapprove.

In contrast, Mormons are the least approving religious group, with only 18 percent of saying that they approved of Obama while 78 percent disapproved. In the past, Mormons have also ranked as "the most conservative major religious group in the U.S.," notes Politico.

According to the poll, Obama tends to favor better with groups other than Christians. Those who described themselves as "Other non-Christian" gave the him a 59 percent approval rating, while Jews gave Obama a 55 percent approval rating and those who said they aren't religious gave a 54 percent approval rating.

Catholics gave the president a 44 percent rating, compared with 51 percent disapproval, while Protestants and other Christians gave him a 37 approval rating and 58 percent disapproving.

"The patterns in Obama's job approval by religion have prevailed throughout his presidency, with Muslim, Jewish, and nonreligious Americans giving him higher ratings, and Mormons and Protestants giving him the lowest ratings," states the Gallup Poll, according to USA Today. "Catholics have typically been closest to the national average, but slightly above it."

Gallup also stated that: "The United States remains a predominantly Christian nation, with roughly half of Americans identifying with a Protestant religion and another quarter identifying as Catholics. Thus, the opinions of these Christian groups are by far the most influential in determining Obama's overall ratings."
