The Houston Rockets failed in their bid to land free agent superstars Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Love, but they are not done yet,  as reports indicated that they are looking to trade for Kevin Love or Rajon Rondo.

Marc Stein of ESPN reported that the Rockets are still planning to make a strong push to convince the Boston Celtics to agree to a trade involving Rondo, who has been Houston's main target since last season's trade deadline.

The Celtics have remained firm on their stance on keeping Rondo, though, which will likely force the Rockets to focus on Love, who could be traded this summer after declining to sign a contract extension with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Love becomes a free agent after next season.

However, the Rockets need to be creative if they want to acquire Love in a trade, as sources indicated that the Rockets do not have enough attractive assets to convince the Timberwolves to pull the trigger on a trade.

Chandler Parsons could have been an attractive asset to the Timberwolves, but the Rockets recently decided to let go of the 25-year-old forward, who signed a four-year, $46 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks.

The Rockets could offer a trade package involving Patrick Beverley along with Terrence Jones and Donatas Motiejunas, but it might not be enough to convince the Timberwolves to part ways with their superstar forward.

The Golden State Warriors also tried to lure Love, but the Timberwolves turned down a trade package involving David Lee and Harrison Barnes. Previous reports indicated that the Timberwolves want Klay Thompson included in a trade for the former UCLA standout.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are also being linked to Love over the past several days after LeBron James signed a two-year contract with the Cavs. Cleveland reportedly offered Dion Waiters, Anthony Bennett, and a future first-round pick, but the Timberwolves declined as they are pushing for the inclusion of 2014 first overall pick Andrew Wiggins.

The Celtics are also trying to acquire Love and pair him up with Rondo, but their chances of acquiring the three-time All-Star is slim, according to Chuck Myron of Hoops Rumors.

"Multiple reports say there's nothing Boston has that Minnesota wants, so the odds that Kevin Love will wind up in Boston for this coming season are pretty slim. I think the C's will be a player for him if he gets to free agency next summer, however. And Danny Ainge is apparently trying to see if he can find players to Minnesota's liking, although I don't think Flip Saunders is giving him too many hints," Myron wrote.
