After announcing the end of his more than decade-long retirement just last week, Garth Brooks revealed on Monday evening, July 14, that he will be making his first stop in Chicago as part of his highly-anticipated upcoming world tour.

"As an entertainer, you get asked a lot 'what are the best cities to play?' Without hesitation, I rattle five or six of the best places to play and that list ALWAYS includes Chicago. It is the PERFECT city to launch the World Tour!" Brooks said in a news release.

The exciting news comes after the country singer officially canceled his comeback shows at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland on July 8. The argument began after 400,000 tickets were sold for five shows, scheduled from July 25-29. Residents of area complained that running five consecutive nights was too much, not only because of the noise from the concerts, but also because security for the performances made it difficult to move freely through the area.

Although the Dublin City Council offered a compromise allowing Brooks to play three shows, the intense negotiation did not work out, as the 52-year-old singer insisted via The Press Association: "For us, it is five shows or none at all. To choose which shows to do and which shows not to do, would be like asking to choose one child over another."

On Monday, after finding out that the town council would not grant him a license for all five shows, Brooks released a statement saying that "with a broken heart, I announce the ticket refunds for the event will go as posted by Ticketmaster."

Garth Brooks will be kicking off his world tour at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois on Sept. 4 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale for $65.60 on July 25 at 10 a.m. CT at Ticketmaster.com. Fans won't be able to buy tickets at the venue box office or Ticketmaster outlets that day.
