Hillary Clinton on 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart': Host Jokes About 2016 Presidential Election [Watch]
In spite of his persistence and cunning jokes, Jon Stewart did not have any luck in getting Hillary Clinton to admit that she is planning to run in the 2016 presidential election.
On Tuesday, the former Sectary of State made a guest appearance on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" to promote her new memoir, "Hard Choices." However, Stewart made it clear that he, like many viewers, was only interested in one thing.
"It's an incredibly, I think, complex and well-reasoned, eyewitness view to the history of those four years," Stewart noted about Clinton's book, before addressing the elephant in the room. "I think I speak for everybody when I say, no one cares. They just want to know if you're running for president," he said.
Although the former First Lady played along with Stewart's wisecracks, she remained stern and did not hint whether or not she will make another run for the White House. Still, that didn't deter the comedic TV host, who decided to coax an answer out of her through a playful career aptitude test.
"Do you like commuting to work or do you like a home office?" asked Stewart after pulling out a clipboard to see whether she is fit to run the country.
"I've spent so many years commuting I kind of like a home office," Clinton answered.
Stewart went on to ask a question about working in the Oval Office.
"Do you have a favorite shape for that home office?," he said,
Clinton replied, saying: "I think the world is so complicated, the fewer corners you can have the better."
Stewart asked her a couple more questions about whether she prefered to stop traffic or sit in it and if she "enjoyed constant, nonstop criticism." He then finally declared the results of his test, saying: "It sounds to me, if I may, you've declared for the presidency."
This was not the first time that Clinton was a guest on the show. The first time she paid a visit to the Comedy Central show was in 2003 while she was a New York senator, notes the Washington Post. During the interview, Stewart and Clinton talked about then-California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Clinton also took a few jabs at then-President George W. Bush.
