The Fire Department of New York's annual calendar will be a little different in 2015 -- besides featuring some of the city's finest hunks, it will also include a female firefighter for the first time ever.

Danae Mines of Engine Co. 60 in the South Bronx became the first woman to be featured in the FDNY Calendar of Heroes, landing the title of Miss March.

"I'd love to inspire other women to come to the job," Mines said while signing calendars at Times Square on Tuesday, according to Reuters.

In addition to breaking the mold in the traditionally all-male calendar, Mines has been one of the city's 41 female firefighters for the last 11 years.

The firefighter vet said she's always wanted to be featured in the yearly pictorial, but she was told she would not be able to because it was only reserved for men.

"I was told that it was all guys," Mines told the New York Daily News.

"They said if I made it in the calendar, I would look like a pinup girl."

Still, she didn't let that stop her from finally attending an audition to be in the calendar.

"I wasn't going to let anyone tell me I couldn't do what I wanted to do," she said. "I was determined."

"I wanted my picture in the calendar so that young girls and young women can see me and know that they can do this job," she added.

Although most of the other FDNY firefighters are shirtless, Mines is pictured in the calendar dressed in a gray tank top, red suspenders and an equipment belt.

According to the New York Daily News, "All proceeds from the sale of the $17.95 calendar go directly to the FDNY Foundation to promote fire safety education for residents and provide equipment and training for firefighters."
