Luis Fernando Muñoz Castro Dead: Banda Los Recoditos Clarinet Player, Other Passengers Die in Car Crash
Luis Fernando Muñoz Castro, 25, died in a car accident after colliding with another car on July 25.
Castro was the clarinet player for Banda Los Recoditos, and he was sitting in the passenger seat of a red 1995 Geo Metro, noted El Universal. Three others died, and six more were seriously injured.
The accident happened at 7:20 a.m. when the vehicle carrying Castro hit another one. Castro died on impact.
Los Recoditos released a statement on Facebook.
"We want to thank all of you for your condolences," the statement said. "Thank you for your words in these difficult moments. Without a doubt, our mate Luis Fernando has left a great void in our hearts. We ask that you pray for his eternal rest and above all for his family who need your prayers in these moments so that they can come to terms with the situation. We send you a hug all the way to the sky. God needed a great musician like you. Unfortunately, you left us too soon, but we know that one day we will see each other again!"
Castro was one of the youngest members of the band, which was first formed in 1989. The band has more than a dozen members, and Alfonso Lizarraga and Pancho Barraza were the first vocalists. The band was originally made up of family members and friends.
Castro's last Instagram picture is one of himself and his girlfriend.
The picture features the two of them sitting on chairs and smiling at the camera.
"You only just left, and I already miss you," he said.
He also retweeted a message from his girlfriend earlier in the month that said she missed her boyfriend.
Fans have taken to various social media accounts to express their condolences and even share their memories.
One Instagram user said, "May you rest in peace. I saw you when you came to Chicago and you blew me a kiss. Even tho it was just for image I cherished it :-[. You were my favorite. Now you're in heaven with all the famous people that passed and some of my family. We all loved you very much.#rip :'("
