LG G3 Colors, Release Date, Specs and Review: This Phone Competes With iPhone 5s, Samsung Galaxy S5, Sony Xperia Z2and HTC One M8
LG announced last May that its flagship G3 would be released with five color options, including Silk White, Metallic Black, Shine Gold, Burgundy Red and Moon Violet, but only three of these variants have been released so far.
The South Korean manufacturer, however, has announced that the additional colors for the G3 -- Burgundy Red and Moon Violet -- will be rolled out in select markets starting August and will continue over the following weeks to other retailers. The exact details on colors and dates will depend on the partnership with local carriers, but announcements will definitely be made when the items are made available.
The G3 has received generally positive reviews from tech critics with some even calling it the best smartphone of 2014, according to PC Advisor, powerfully competing against the iPhone 5s, Samsung Galaxy S5, Sony Xperia Z2 and HTC One M8.
It is an elegant high-end Android smartphone. It features a 5.5-inch screen with a high-resolution Quad HD display of 1,440 by 2,560 pixels, a high-quality 13-megapixel main camera, intelligent UI skinning and a fast quad-core SoC. Its body has a brushed-metal look despite being actually made of plastic, weighing in at 149 grams.
As its main feature, the LG G3 boasts of its "Quad HD" screen with the highest resolution in a handset at 2,560 by 1,440 pixels with a 534ppi density, setting a new benchmark for its competitors.
As the flagship phone, its other specifications are also impressive, keeping up with the high-end smartphone race with a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 supported by 2 GB of Ram. It also has an internal storage capacity of 16 GB that can be expanded by an external microSD card up to 128 GB.
For LG, "simple is the new smart," and with the G3's unique offerings, it may live up to the ZDNet Editors' Choice Award and other acclamations.
