Fantasy Football Team 2014 Sleepers, Rankings, and Draft: Top 5 Potential Breakout Players This Season
With the National Football League season almost upon us, fantasy football players everywhere will be participating in fantasy football drafts. Of course, the very best and elite players will go early, such as Peyton Manning and Adrian Peterson. However, there are always the "sleepers" who don't get drafted high and wreck the league.
Here are five potential players who could be sleepers for the upcoming fantasy football season.
Brandon Bolden
The New England Patriots' running game is always in flux. LeGarrette Blount, who became their best back last season, is now in Pittsburgh. Stevan Ridley had a very disappointing season last year, and Shane Vereen isn't a very good runner. Drafting Bolden could be a wise move that could pay off. Ridley has even been benched because of his fumbling problems, and head coach Bill Belichick will give Bolden the ball if necessary. Bolden has never fumbled in his career so far.
Josh McCown
McCown was unbelievable relieving Jay Cutler last year. After Cutler got injured in week seven, McCown would thrown 13 touchdowns to just one interception and a 109 quarterback rating. One of those games even included a five touchdown performance against the Dallas Cowboys' defense. He and head coach Lovie Smith are paired in Tampa Bay now, and he's extremely underrated. Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson will be his go to guys.
Ryan Tannehill
Tannehill takes a lot of heat because he was drafted No. 8 overall, but he's better than people give him credit for. He improved dramatically last season and shows promise heading into his third year with the Miami Dolphins. He and wide receiver Mike Wallace could be the best deep ball threat in the league next season. Tannehill will also not be facing the toughest defenses in the AFC East either.
Fred Jackson
Talk about an underrated player. He plays for the Buffalo Bills and he's never once played in a postseason game, so he rarely gets the national media attention he deserves. Jackson isn't an elite back, but he does average 4.5 yards per carry over his seven year career. He's not worth reaching for in the first two rounds, but he could be a steal in the third or fourth round.
Hakeem Nicks
Here is an interesting player. Nicks was once viewed as one of the top tier wide receivers in the NFL, but in the last two seasons he has just three total touchdowns. Maybe a change of scenery will be a good thing for him. Nicks will be playing with quarterback Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts this season, and there's no reason to believe they won't be passing the ball a lot.
