ABC 'Dancing With the Stars' 2014 Cast: DWTS Dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy Gets Chatty About Kirstie Alley, Quiet About Jennifer Lopez
In interviews last week, current "Dancing With the Stars" professional dancer champion Maksim Chmerkovskiy was talkative about one woman and mum about another.
In a Tuesday interview on "Watch What Happens Live," Chmerkovskiy said that his relationship with Kirstie Alley, who Chmerkovskiy competed with in Season 12 and won second place, has deteriorated because of her opinion of Chmerkovskiy's friends.
"She stopped getting along with me," he said. "We had a great relationship. ... But I got a message now that I am associating with other people that she can't be associated with. I am no longer to be spoken with, and sorry, but it is what it is."
Chmerkovskiy also hinted that Alley's change of heart has to do with her scientology religion.
"I think the world of her," Chmerkovskiy said. "I'm not judging people by their religion. I'm Jewish. I don't really believe in science fiction but whatever."
The dancer made sure to state that he still wishes the best for his former partner.
"It's sad that we've gone through so much together, and I feel like I've helped her and this is where we're at now. But I still think the world of her, and I wish her all the best," he said.
In another interview last week, Chmerkovskiy wasn't nearly as open about his relationship with Jennifer Lopez, who the 34-year-old dancer is rumored to be dating.
When People magazine asked if Lopez was attending his July 26 show, Sway: A Dance Trilogy, in Westbury, New York, Chmerkovskiy said, "I have a lot of friends, and a lot them are coming tonight.
"I'm just focused on dancing," Chmerkovskiy said when asked if he is dating the singer. "I'm not interested in talking about anything other than the show."
Season 19 of "Dancing With the Stars" begins Sept. 15 on ABC.
