As "American Horror Story: Freak Show" gets closer to its premiere date, those behind the show take a walk down memory lane.

In an Emmy-themed interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Tim Minear, executive producer of "American Horror Story," revealed his roughest day on set during Season 3, dubbed "Coven."

"We had a character in the series who was obsessed with [classic rock icon] Stevie Nicks, and we planned to use a lot of her music in the show," Minear recalled. "Then, amazingly, Stevie herself became available, though we knew we were going to have only a short window with her."

Eventually, Nicks learned of a scene where the witches conduct a "seven wonders" ceremony. This was interesting to the musician because she had already written a song called "Seven Wonders."

"So now, on the spur of the moment, ['American Horror Story' co-creator Ryan Murphy] came up with a brilliant idea: Have Stevie and the other cast members shoot a 1980s-style music video teaser with that song for our last episode," Minear continued. "We had maybe 24 hours to put together this extremely elaborate sequence. Stevie hadn't performed the song in ages and wasn't sure she even remembered all of the words. But she came through like a trouper, and we were able to write it, costume it and shoot this very challenging piece that wound up kind of weirdly brilliant."

"American Horror Story: Coven" is nominated for 17 Emmys this year.

Meanwhile, Season 4 of "American Horror Story," dubbed "Freak Show," also has actress Kathy Bates sharing some memories. Apparently, the 66 year old actress remembers passing by real freak shows as a child.

"I remember going to the fair when I was a kid, and I always wanted to go into freak show [but] my parents would never let me," Bates said in an interview with TV Guide. "So it was this mysterious place I never saw when I was growing up."

"American Horror Story: Freak Show" premieres on FX in October. It takes places in 1950s Jupiter, Florida and stars Jessica Lange as a German woman managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S.
