Charlie Hunnam has been selected to play Christian Grey in the film adaptation of E.L. James' novel, Fifty Shades of Grey.

Hunnam is best known as playing Jackson "Jax" Teller in FX's "Sons of Anarchy." James announced Hunnam's new role via Twitter on Monday.

"The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey," James wrote via Twitter.

Although Hunnam, 33, does not have a public Twitter account, his fan account took to Twitter to celebrate the news. "Huge Buzz thanks to the #50ShadesOfGrey cast announcement - #SOAFX Charlie Hunnam is trending! via @lutzelle https://fb.me/YFfIgpj4," Hunnam's fan account wrote via Twitter after James' initial tweet.

The Twitter account also released an exclusive photo which the fan page mobile uploaded onto its Facebook page and which also appears above.

"Charlie Hunnam just announced as Christian Grey! Lets celebrate with an exclusive pic! @E_L_James https://fb.me/1ukSJSGZX" Hunnam's Twitter fan page wrote with a link to the photo.

The "Sons of Anarchy" star is expected to do whatever it takes to prepare for the role of Christian Grey. In order to prepare for the role as Raleigh Becket in 2013's Pacific Rim, the actor worked out in a gym every day for two-and-a-half hours.

"After Fight Club, the expectation of what a dude is supposed to look like when he takes is shirt off is just so high," Hunnam said in an interview with Muscle & Fitness magazine. "So I said, 'I'll try and make it happen.' So I shot 14-15 hours a day on "Sons [of Anarchy]" then I would go the gym for two-and-a-half hours every day after work."

Fans of Fifty Shades of Grey will be expecting an outstanding body in Christian Grey as well. The character is described as very sexual, sensual and persuasive. Based on the highly erotic nature of the book, Hunnam will most likely being taking his shirt off yet again.

Readers of the trilogy can only hope that Hunnam has maintained his workout routine.
