Rihanna New Album Release Update 2014: 'Stay' Singer to Collaborate With Coldplay Frontman Chris Martin? [Watch]
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin recently revealed that he has been working in the studio, writing a new track for Rihanna's highly anticipated upcoming eighth studio album.
The British alternative rocker and the Barbadian singer previously collaborated on "Princess of China" off Coldplay's 2012 fifth studio album "Mylo Xyloto" and performed the hit track at the 2012 London Paralympics as well as the 54th Grammy Awards. Also, they pair have remained good friends for years since working together, and were spotted dining together in June, suggesting that they were planning another collaboration.
In his recent interview with New York's radio station Fresh 102.7, Martin said that he already asked RiRi if he can contribute to her latest project: "I don't even think she asked. I just said, 'Please can I try something?'"
The "Viva la Vida" hitmaker said that although he is eager to work with the "Stay" singer, he is not sure whether he will even make it onto the follow-up to her successful, platinum-selling 2012 release "Unapologetic."
"She has so many amazing people writing for her," he said. "It's like trying to win 'American Idol,' getting a song on Rihanna's album."
Chris Martin also discussed making musical suggestions for Rihanna, while sitting down with Elvis Duran at Z100's popular morning show.
"Sometimes I like to try and write for Rihanna, just for fun," he said. "Sometimes she likes it, sometimes she doesn't. Recently, she liked one and didn't like the other."
In addition, Grammy-nominated producer Yung Berg told Rap-Up that he is working with the "Diamonds" singer on her new album, claiming that he wrote a song for her.
"We got a joint called 'All Night' for Rih," he said. "It sounds like uh... produced by Nic Nac, he did 'Loyal.' Me and Nic Nac went in, man. It's about being down all night, ya feel me?"
Rihanna is currently on "The Monster" summer joint tour with Eminem.
