New Tomb Raider Video Game Release: Latest Lara Croft Game Coming Only to Xbox One
Tomb Raider has been around a long time, since 1996, and it's always been available for multiple systems. Now, though, Tomb Raider is coming only to Xbox One.
The announcement came Tuesday. The next Tomb Raider will come out for the 2015 holiday season, and it will be available only on Xbox One.
"Our friends at Microsoft have always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and have believed in our vision since our first unveil with them on their stage at E3 2011," developer Crystal Dynamics wrote in a blog post, accompanying the announcement at Microsoft's Gamescom press briefing. "We know they will get behind this game more than any support we have had from them in the past. We believe this will be a step to really forging the Tomb Raider brand as one of the biggest in gaming, with the help, belief and backing of a major partner like Microsoft."
There could be a chance that Tomb Raider could release the exclusive rights and make the game available for the other systems, but for now, it's Xbox One only. Crystal Dynamics was careful to remind gamers that this year's Tomb Raider, Temple of Osiris, will be available to multiple systems.
The new Tomb Raider game will be called Rise of the Tomb Raider. It was first revealed at E3 during a Microsoft press conference. A trailer showed Lara Croft, the game's main character, dealing with lots of stress that she's built up from earlier adventures.
Gamers will be able to experience fun and exciting exploration around the globe in hostile areas.
In the next chapter of her journey, Lara must use her survival skills and wits, learn to trust new friends and ultimately accept her destiny as the Tomb Raider," Microsoft said during Rise of the Tomb Raider's E3 announcement.
