“Bad Boys 3” New Movie Release Rumors: Martin Lawrence Confirms Film in the Works
The "Bad Boys" movie franchise, which brought crazy car chases and shootouts to the streets of Miami, may be returning in the near future. One of the movie’s lead actors, Martin Lawrence, has revealed that a third movie is currently in the works.
Appearing on Conan O’Brien’s show on Wednesday, Lawrence told the host that the movie was currently under development but failed to provide details about who will be involved in its creation and when it will be released, according to Entertainment Tonight. However, Lawrence is sure the movie will go forward.
"I believe so. Yes. I just talked to Jerry Bruckheimer," Lawrence said after O'Brien asked him about the rumors circulating. "He said it's real, they're working on a script, they're close and it all looks good."
“Bad Boys” first aired in 1995 and it gave director Michael Bay his first big-screen debut. The sequel followed in 2003. Both films cast Martin Lawrence as Det. Marcus Burnett and Will Smith as Det. Mike Lowrey.
Lawrence had previously teased fans on Twitter with the possibility of a third movie back in July.

But, who is writing this movie’s script?
According to Indie Wire, some names have been thrown about. Sony, the studio making the film, hired Peter Craig, who wrote the script for “The Town,” in 2009, but that did not work. They then hired David Guggenheim, screenwriter of “Safe House” and “Stolen,” but nothing has been heard since then.
Indie Wire added that there is no word whether Michael Bay or Will Smith will rejoin the movie franchise for its third installment. Michael Bay in particular has decided to leave the "Transformers" franchise and wants to try out new subjects. Whether that will be "Bad Boys 3" is too soon to know.
