Lil Wayne New Album 2014: 'Believe Me' Rapper Finally Reveals Release Date, Cover Art for 'Tha Carter V' [Watch]
Lil Wayne has finally revealed the release date as well as the cover art for his highly anticipated upcoming sixteenth studio album "Tha Carter V."
During his guest appearance on ESPN's "SportsCenter" on Thursday, the YMCMB boss detailed his latest solo project. The artwork features his childhood photo, which sees him standing in front of his mother Jacida "Cita" Carter. In fact, it continues the "Tha Carter" album series' theme, featuring a younger Weezy (except for "Tha Carter II").
"It's perfect. I always go with a baby picture and I wanted to go with one with my mom on it this time," he said. "This album means a lot to me. People been waiting on this album and I'm just at the point in my life and stuff to have my mom on there. It's more than an accomplishment, it's an achievement."
The "Believe Me" hitmaker apparently did not tell his mom about using the old snap on the new album cover.
"I'm sorry moms. I didn't tell her about the picture that I was using for the album cover," he said. "I don't think she's going to be upset, but I know personally that she don't really like that picture of herself 'cause she's not looking in the camera."
Meanwhile, the New Orleans emcee, who is currently on "Drake vs. Lil Wayne" summer joint tour, debuted a brand new single "Grindin'" alive at the duo's first concert. Moreover, he has enlisted several superstar athletes for his forthcoming album. For instance, NBA MVP Kevin Durant took to his Instagram account to post the artwork of the new track with a following caption, "Word up! #tunechiBACK."
Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter V," which is set to feature his Young Money protégés and frequent collaborators Drizzy and Nicki Minaj, will be released on Oct. 28.
