Utah police are searching for two Hispanic males suspected of opening fire at a downtown nightclub in Salt Lake City and injuring six people on Saturday.

Salt Lake City Police Detective Cody Lougy said the shooting happened just before midnight Saturday night inside of Inferno Cantina at 122 West Pierpont Avenue.

One witness told ABC 4 Utah News that she heard at least 11 gun shoots and saw two men exchange gun fire.

Officials say that two people then hopped into a stolen Cadillac CTS and tried to run over a security guard who fired at the vehicle.

"This is a very scary situation. Scary for everybody involved," said Det. Lougy, according to KUTV. "That club Inferno was packed with people, so you can imagine the panic in the room when the shots were being fired and people were going down."

The six victims were treated with minor to serious injuries and all expected to survive.

Investigators are hoping that they can obtain video of the incident that will help them identify the gunmen from some of the hundreds of people who were at the club at that time.

"Everybody records stuff these days," said Salt Lake City Police Detective Greg Wilking, according to the Associated Press. "It's human nature these days that somebody is taking a selfie while stuff happens."

He said that investigators are talking to witnesses and searching for evidence in what they believe was a stolen getaway car that they found dumped in an industrial area on Sunday morning.

Police are also investigating the motive behind the shooting and whether there was a specific target during the shooting or just random fire.

The nightclub opened in early 2011 in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City.

Its website states that it opened after "Recognizing a demand for a hip, downtown restaurant and bar combination that features authentic Mexican food, Inferno Cantina has answered that call with a bang!"
