JK Rowling Writes New Harry Potter Story: Read About Singer-Sorceress Celestina Warbeck on Pottermore
Die-hard fans of Harry Potter have another story to look forward to on Pottermore. This time J.K. Rowling is doing a biography on one of her favorite characters, although she's a lesser-known one.
According to Today Books, the character is called Celestina Warbeck. She has been a part of the world of Harry Potter since the beginning but has not made an appearance. Although Celestina has not been mentioned in the seven volumes of Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling said that she envisions her to look like Shirley Bassey both in style and looks.
The glamorous witch was supposed to have been born on Aug. 18. She also has a wand made of phoenix feathers and larch, which is quite flexible and is 10-1/2 inches long. Her Hogwarts House is Gryffindor. She's got a very powerful voice that can even drown out her backup vocals made up of a group of banshees. She's into fancy baking and tap dancing, and she's got eight homes that she alternately visits. She also likes to breed rough-coated Crups and enjoys traveling in style. She's been married three times and has one son.
Celestina Warbeck is an internationally known singing sensation who hails from Wales. Her frustrated actress of a mother (a Muggle) had to consent to her entering Hogwarts because there was no wizarding stage school. She consistently bombarded the school to create a dancing class, a theatre club and a choir just so her daughter's talents could be showcased. Her concert tickets were often sold on the black market at inflated prices.
Despite being very famous, Celestina has a good heart and lent her talents and her name often to good causes such as fundraising for St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. She's also very vocal about her disagreement with the Ministry of Magic's restrictions on the celebration of Halloween by the wizarding community. And because she's a well-known celebrity and always in the public eye, her personal life is fodder for gossip, particularly her short marriages. Read more at Pottermore.
