'Street Fighter' Coming to PS4, Xbox One: Capcom Producer Confirms Series' Revival via Twitter
According to SegmentNext, Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono just tweeted that "Street Fighter" will eventually be available to Xbox One and PS4. However, there was no confirmation on which title will go to the two game consoles. The sad fact is that the franchise will not be coming to the Wii U.
"Ultra Street Fighter IV" is the latest installment of the game, but the version that was released this year was only for PCs and last-gen consoles. The "Street Fighter" community immediately bombarded Capcom with questions about the game's availability for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. In the beginning, Capcom only gave the community very vague replies, which saddened them because they thought that the release of the game for the current generation gaming consoles might not happen or that the chances were slim.
Incidentally, MadCatz, a peripherals manufacturer had announced last month that the company would soon come out with a fighting stick for "Ultra Street Fighter IV" that would allow players to switch between PS3 and PS4 easily.
With the announcement from Ono, it means that the seemingly "dead" series of "Street Fighter" is being revived, which will make it a mainstream game and a big deal at that.
It is not clearly defined whether Yoshinori Ono will be working on "Street Fighter" for PS4 and Xbox One directly. At the moment he is the producer of another game called "Deep Down." He also recently stepped down as head of the Vancouver Studio of Capcom. From his remarks, it was gathered that the new Street Fighter version would not be a pay-to-win game, according to GameSpot.
On the other hand, the Wii U is being left behind. EA will not be releasing Madden or FIFA games for the Wii U console. Likewise, the Assassin's Creed game will not be available for Nintendo's Wii U, according to Ubisoft.
However, the Street Fighter release for PS4 and Xbox one might take a long time to become available since Capcom has just released the "Ultra Street Fighter IV." Next year, "Tekken 7" and "Mortal Kombat X" are due for release so fans might have a long time to wait for what will theoretically be "Street Fighter V."
