BBC "Doctor Who" Season 8 Cast & Spoilers: Jenna-Louise Coleman Leaving Show After Christmas Special Episode
Will fans of "Doctor Who" be seeing Clara Oswald for the last time in Season 8 of the series? According to the Mirror, Jenna-Louise Coleman will be leaving the show after the Christmas special this year with a very memorable storyline. The rumor is that the actress is believed to be quitting the show as the Time Lord's assistant. This could mean that there will be a new assistant coming in as the side kick of Doctor Who, played by Peter Capaldi in Season 8.
Based on the story run by the Mirror, talks about the exit of Jenna Coleman have started, and things are being ironed out and apparently the decision for her to quit the show was mutual.
On the other hand, BBC has not made any official comment about the exit of Jenna-Louise, and therefore there is still speculation about the whole thing. A spokeswoman for BBC even said that people must watch the series to see if the rumors are true, Radio Times reports. She likewise declined to comment when asked if the bosses at BBC knew of Coleman leaving the show after Season 8 ends. She simply said that they would rather focus on the upcoming season.
One source said that by the time Jenna-Louise Coleman leaves the show, she will be one of the most longest-standing assistants to Doctor Who. While Coleman was brilliant in her role as Clara Oswald, everyone agreed that the assistant's part could change over time. People that have been analyzing that the length of time the assistants stay on the show seems to be around two years.
Other people who have learned of the news are still hopeful, saying that a companion's departure is not always final and that there were many instances when they return for guest spots after they have been trapped in the parallel universe and their memories have been completely erased.
