Lollapalooza 'Zombie' Found: Man Charged with Biting Concertgoer
Chicago police have arrested a man who is accused of biting fellow concertgoers earlier in August while attending the music festival Lollapalooza. The man, Sergio Vicenteno, allegedly attacked two men in the crowd of an Arctic Monkeys concert the evening of Friday, Aug. 1, the first night of the three-day "Lolla."
One of the victims, Ben Lenet, said he was watching the band perform when a man approached them and "craned his neck back and clamped" down on his left forearm. When he let go of Lenet, 29, the stranger then turned to his friend, also 29, and pushed him to the ground and bit him on the shin. Then the man got up and walked away.
"He's not biting at me. He's clearly trying to bite through me," Lenet said to Fox 32.
The bite on his arm broke the skin, so Lenet went to the hospital, where he was treated and released the same day. He did say that he was given preventative antibiotics for hepatitis and HIV.
In the days following the attack, Lenet posted pictures of his wounds online, nicknaming it an odd "zombie" attack, hoping to either stir up a witness to the seemingly random incident or find the man responsible.
Weeks went by with little information until Vicenteno was arrested after meeting with authorities Wednesday at the 2nd District police station. He was charged with two counts of aggravated battery at a public venue, according to court records.
Arraignment took place Thursday afternoon at the Cook County Criminal Courthouse where a judge ordered Vicenteno be held in lieu of $60,000 bond. Cook County State's Attorney's Office spokesman Steve Campbell said that the man has not yet entered a plea.
His attorney Michael Gillespie claimed Friday that his client, a construction worker, was not attacking the two men but rather defending himself, according to The Associated Press.
