The 66th Primetime Emmys Awards event is making a big push to reach and attract viewers through multiple social media platforms.

According to NBC affiliate KFOR, NBC, Television Academy and NBCUniversal Networks have partnered up to make this year's award show "the most social Emmys experience ever!"

The show, which will air Aug. 25 at 8 p.m., will use Twitter, Facebook, Vine and Instagram to interact with television viewers and grant them access to see celebrities behind the scenes, both before and during the ceremony.

A zip-line camera will be used to broadcast red carpet footage from the pre-show on Twiiter, while most of all video, photos and interviews will be shared on the Facebook pages of NBC, E!, "Access Hollywood" and The Television Academy.

E! will live tweet under with the #eredcarpet hashtag and post behind the scenes Emmy photos an videos on Instagram.

The Emmy Awards will also introduce the "Mentions Box," which allows celebrities to interact with Facebook users in real time. A host from "Access Hollywood" will chose a celebrity to shake the digital "Magic 8-Ball/Etch-A-Sketch." Then a fan question about the Emmys and the nominees will pop up for a celebrity to answer. The celebrity will then hit the "Response" button for a video answer, and the host will upload it on Facebook.

Plus, E! hosts Giuliana Rancic and Ross Mathews will provide the audience with an all-access pass through the "Glam Cam 360" and "Mani Cam" during the "Live From the Red Carpet: The 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards" that will air at 6 p.m. on Eonline.com. The hosts will answer viewer questions submitted through Twitter and Facebook.

"Late Night" talk show host and "Saturday Night Live" alum Seth Meyers will host the ceremony from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

This year, HBO's "Game of Thrones" came out on top with the most nominations, including Best Drama Series, while "Fargo" ranked in second with 18 nods and "American Horror Story: Coven" took away with 17, notes Mashable.

ABC's "Modern Family" will have another shot to win the Best Comedy Series award, after winning the award four times already. Also competing in the comedy category is the HBO's "Veep" and Netflix's "Orange Is the New Black."

Surprisingly, HBO's "True Detective" was listed in the running for the Outstanding Drama Series award, rather than in the Outstanding Miniseries category. As a result, this will tighten the competition in the most competitive category which includes other heavy weight shows like "Breaking Bad," "Mad Men" and Game of Thrones."
