At this early stage it is difficult to sift through the plethora of rumors and speculations about the upcoming Captain America movie by Marvel since there is not much to go on about the plot and the cast of the high-grossing franchise. According to BreatheCast, what is known at this stage is that it will be released on May 6, 2016.

Screenwriters Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus hinted during their interview with SFX that the third movie for Captain America will be a blend of the first two movies.

Yahoo! reports, "With actor Chris Evans shifting his focus to directing, and Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie already in place as the Winter Soldier and the Falcon respectively, the next film could allow a new hero to step in." Chris Evans has talked about shifting more of his focus towards directing after his present contract ends, The Guardian reports.

Marvel and Disney are keeping their lids tight, so details of the movie have not been forthcoming although Joe and Anthony Russo are reportedly going to direct the next Captain America movie. They have sat down for an exclusive interview with Yahoo! and talked about the relationship between Steve Rodgers and Bucky Burns, who are best friends in the story.

They said that the character of Bucky Burns was invented for political purposes alone. Likewise, they said that it is important to them as directors that they do not turn Captain America into a disillusioned anti-hero. They see his morality as part and parcel of him having super powers.

Movie Pilot has speculated on the shield-throwing hero's demise in his next movie appearance, which would make it the last film appearance for his character. This persistent rumor continues to fan the interest of people eagerly waiting for the third installment of the Steve Rogers saga.

Joe Quesada, the chief creative officer of Marvel, has confirmed that Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) will indeed exit from Captain America in the comics and will be replaced by Falcon Sam Wilson, who was seen in "Captain America: Winter Soldier."

Quesada said that although Captain America's spirit is still willing to fight, his body is aging and no longer up to the tasks required of Captain America. He will be using his skills as the remote strategic adviser of the new Captain and run the missions from his Avengers Mansion headquarters. He will be providing Sam/Falcon with field information and technical support.
