"The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Phaedra Parks is allegedly planning to divorce Apollo Nida because his 8-year jail bid for bank fraud and identity theft is proving to be "too costly", Inquistr reports.

In addition to his 8-year jail sentencing, Nida is also required to pay a restitution penalty of $2 million that he must pay back in full within the next 20 years.

If Parks chooses to stay married to Nida, she will be responsible for helping Nida pay back his restitution penalty, so the "RHOA' star has opted to divorce her husband instead, says Inquistr.

Following Nida's jail sentencing, rumors of tension in his marriage to Parks began to surface.

Last month, Nida solidified the rumors by slamming his wife during an interview with Atlanta's B-100 radio station.

Nida expressed his animosity towards his now estranged wife for not showing up to his prison sentencing.

"I mean my wife didn't even f**king show up to my sentencing," Nida said during his interview. "I'm still salty about that, but whatever."

When asked about whether he feels his marriage will last through his time in jail, Nida responded, "I doubt it."

So far, Parks has been silent about the rumored claims of friction in her marriage, however, fellow "RHOA" star Kandi Burruss revealed that Parks is "doing great" despite her husband's legal drama.

"Phaedra's doing great. She's basically working. That's how I deal with things too; when I have a lot going on, I just put more into work," Burruss told HollywoodLife.com last month. "I know that she's promoting her book and doing the book tour and stuff like that and she's not really trying to focus as much on what's happening."
