"Modern Family" star Sarah Hyland has called it quits with her boyfriend of 5 years, Matt Prokop.

Hyland's reps confirmed to Us Weekly that Hyland's breakup with Prokop was "amicable."

"Sarah's doing fine. It didn't work out," said an Us Weekly source. "She's young. They decided they would be better off as friends."

Us Weekly reports, Hyland and Prokop first met while auditioning for High School musical 3 in 2008. Though neither of them "made the cut," the pair eventually went on to star together in Disney's 2011 television movie, "Geek Charming."

Despite Us Weekly's confirmation of the couple's spit, Hyland and Prokop's relationship photos remain on their Instagram pages.

On Monday, Aug. 25 Hyland arrived solo at the Emmys and despite her new single status, the 23 year-old actress appeared happy and unbothered.

During the Emmy awards, Hyland posted a photo of herself smiling from ear to ear along with the caption, "This sums up by the #emmys2014 for me. Thank you to those who voted for us!! I can't believe we won!!!!"

The following day, she posted a photo of herself hanging out with friends. "Very happy to have spent the night with friends who happen to be the greatest team ever!"

Meanwhile, Matt Prokop has made his Instagram page private. His Instagram bio reads, "Taking a break from insta."

While the former couple was still together, the two seemingly had a smooth and happy relationship.

Two years ago following her kidney transplant surgery, Hyland gushed about Prokop helping her through her recovery process.

"He helps me with my medication and takes me to doctor appointments and all the stuff that I need to do to take care of myself," Hyland told Seventeen Magazine at the time. "Any other 21-year-old guy would not be there, I guarantee it. I am one of the luckiest people in the world to have him be there for me."
