Labor Day Weather & Travel Forecast 2014: What to Expect During the Holiday Weekend
Summer is coming to an end. Whether you have to go back to school, send the kids back to school or you just love summer, it's time to get ready for the fall.
The colder weather may be coming in your area this fall, but let's take a look at the Labor Day Weekend forecast across the U.S. compiled from data from The Weather Channel and WeatherUnderground.com.
Thunderstorms could impact parts of the U.S. so continue to monitor your local weather forecasts for updated reports.
Northeast Region: Temperatures will be a little warmer than average this weekend. The best day for doing things outdoors will be Saturday as rain chances are low. Sunday will see temperatures head higher but chances for rain increases across the entire east coast. New York will hit highs of 87 on Sunday and 85 on Monday, but both days have 50 percent chances of rain. Evening showers are likely Sunday and scattered thunderstorms are likely Monday all day. Washington, D.C. will be hot this weekend with highs of 94 on Sunday and 91 Monday, but both days will likely see evening thunderstorms.
South Region: Temperatures will be hot down in the south too. Saturday will bring widespread thunderstorms for most of the entire region, but the Carolinas should stay dry. Sunday will bring thunderstorms to the Appalachians, the Tennessee Valley and Florida, but the beaches of North Carolina and Virginia will stay dry. On Labor Day, the storms should become less widespread but clouds and rains could bring temperatures down a little.
Midwest: Up in the midwest, most of the region remains dry Saturday and Sunday, but it may depend on the storms in the South and Northeast region. There could be some unsettled weather that causes some of the Plains states to get some rain. The Dakotas will likely be wet on Sunday. Temperatures will be in the upper 70s to mid-80s across the region. Monday looks like an all-day rain for the Great Lakes states.
West: In the west, it's going to be a great weekend. The only threat of thunderstorms comes in the northern Rockies where rains and even a few flakes of snow are possible. Temperatures will be lower in the northern Rockies where it will feel more like fall. California, Arizona and Nevada should all be wonderful this weekend. Seattle might see rain all three days.
