Just in time for last big outdoor grilling holiday of the summer, Kraft Foods Group has announced it's voluntarily recalling 7,691 cases of select varieties of regular Kraft American Singles Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Product.

According to a news release by the United States Food and Drug Administration, a supplier did not store an ingredient used in the preparation of the cheese product this product in accordance with Kraft's temperature standards.

So, while it's considered "unlikely, this could create conditions that could lead to premature spoilage and/or food borne illness; therefore, the company is issuing the recall as a precaution," the agency announcement said.

Kraft reports having received no consumer illness complaints associated with the recall, which is limited to four varieties of the cheese singles products bearing the "Best When Used By" dates of Feb. 20, 2015, and Feb. 21, 2015.

The release said the affected product was only shipped to customers throughout the United States, but not distributed outside of the country.

The following varieties are being recalled:

  • 12 oz Kraft American Singles (16 slices), Use By Dates: 20 FEB 2015 and 21 FEB 2015, Package Code: 0 21000 60464 7, Case Code: 00 21000 60464 00
  • 16 oz Kraft American Singles (24 slices), Use By Dates: 20 FEB 2015, Package Code: 0 21000 61526 1, Case Code: 00 21000 61450 00
  • 16 oz Kraft American Singles (24 slices), Use By Dates: 20 FEB 2015, Package Code: 0 21000 61526 1, Case Code: 00 21000 61526 00
  • 64 oz (4 lb) Kraft American Singles (4x24 slice), Use By Dates: 20 FEB 2015, Package Code: 0 21000 63360 9, Case Code: 00 21000 62559 00

No other Kraft Singles products are impacted by the recall.

The USFDA explains consumers can find the "Best When Used By" dates on the bottom of the product package.

The affected product was produced at Kraft's Springfield, Missouri manufacturing facility.

In addition, consumers who purchased any of the recalled items should not eat them, but return them to the store where they were purchased for an exchange or full refund.
