The weekend after Labor Day is usually slow since studios and distributors are gearing up for awards season and the fall season.

As a result, only one film will be released nationwide and there will be a re-release of a legendary movie on its 20th anniversary. Latin Post.com takes a look at all the movies to watch this weekend:

The Identical

The biggest release of the week is the musical drama. The new feature starring Ashley Judd, Ray Liotta and Blake Rayne, tells the story of twin brothers who are unknowingly separated at birth. One of them becomes an iconic rock 'n' roll star, while the other struggles to balance his love for music and pleasing his father. Directed by Dustin Marcellino, the feature has scored negative reviews, with critics stating that it is unfocused. Freestyle has not given the movie a big marketing campaign and tracking is low. The company is planning on releasing the movie in a modest 1,950 theaters.

Forrest Gump

Twenty years since the release of the six-time Oscar winning film, Paramount is re-releasing the feature in IMAX. Directed by Robert Zemeckis, Forrest Gump tells the story of a man who has accidentally been present at many historic moments, but his true love, Jenny Curran, eludes him. "Forrest Gump" is recognized as one of the classic films in Hollywood history and is beloved by many audiences. The film stars Tom Hanks in his Oscar-winning portrayal as well as Robin Wright as Jenny. Paramount is releasing the movie 300 theaters and hopes to add to the $329 million it made when it was released in 1994.

Frontera

The Western tells the story of a former Arizona sheriff whose wife is killed while riding on their ranch property. When a Mexican man illegally crossing into the U.S. is accused, the former and the current sheriff's search for answers changes the lives of many forever. "Frontera" stars Ed Harris, Michael Pena and Eva Longoria and has been playing On Demand for over a month. The feature has scored mixed reviews with many praising the performances while others have criticized the story and script. Having already played for a good length on demand, it is unlikely the film will have a long theatrical run especially with very little marketing.

God Help the Girl

The festival favorite will be released by Amplify this weekend. The musical, starring Emily Browning, tells the story of Eve who begins writing songs as a way to sort through some emotional problems. Through her journey, she meets James and Cassie, two musicians each at crossroads of their own.

The feature premiered at the Berlin Film Festival as well as the Sundance Film Festival where it won the Special Jury Prize in World cinema sidebar. It also played at SXSW and has scored rave reviews. Amplify is teaming up with Vimeo to release the film both in theaters and on demand. The feature is likely to garner a cult following if it gains tractions among indie audiences.

The Longest Week

The comedy tells the story of an affluent and aimless man, Conrad Valmont, who lives a life of leisure in his parent's prestigious Manhattan Hotel. In the span of one week, he finds himself evicted, disinherited and in love. Starring Jenny Slate, Olivia Wilde, Billy Crudup and Jason Bateman, the feature has scored negative reviews due to its lack of a coherent narrative. YRF and Gravitas Ventures are releasing the film on demand and in limited theaters. With very little marketing and similar movies in the marketplace, it is likely this film will fade out very quickly.
